COMMUNIQUÉ OF THE MEETING OF THE NATIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA) HELD ON THE 23 OF AUGUST, 2024 AT THE NATIONAL SECRETARIAT OF THE PARTY, KATAMPE HILLS, FCT, ABUJA.

At the meeting of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) under the able leadership of Chief Sly Ezeokenwa Esq held on the 23rd of August 2024, the NWC of our great Party discussed some critical issues of great significance to the Party and resolved as follows:

1. NWC call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to urgently address the recent spate of

insecurity along the Enugu/Kogi expressway and other parts of the Country. NWC also condemn the killing of one of our party members and the kidnapping of the Anambra State Commissioner for youths and his wife along the Enugu/Kogi expressway. NWC therefore urge the Federal Government to intensify measures to curb the menace of terrorists, bandits and kidnappers across the country.

2. Unanimously, members of the NWC observed a minute silence in honor of departed National Treasurer of APGA, Engr Uche Onyemere, the late President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo

worldwide Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu and our member who was killed along the Kogi/Enugu

expressway by unknown gunmen. NWC prayed for the peaceful repose of their souls.

3. The National Working Committee vehemently reject in totality the recent decision of INEC to accord recognition to one Chief Edozie Njoku a self-acclaimed National Chairman of APGA

purportedly by Court Order. NWC maintain that the decision taken by INEC runs contrary to the

decision of the Supreme Court on the APGA leadership dispute.

4. NWC noted that the Supreme Court has clarified its position on APGA Leadership when they

clearly stated that it never declared Edozie Njoku as APGA National Chairman. NWC further noted that the Judgment of the FCT High Court affirmed by the Court of Appeal, Abuja purportedly relied upon by INEC never declared Edozie Njoku as National Chairman of APGA to warrant his baseless recognition by INEC.

5. NWC therefore call on INEC to immediately reverse its decision and remove the name of

Chief Edozie Njoku as National Chairman of APGA from its website and replace same with the name of the authentic National Chairman of APGA Barr SLY EZEOKENWA whose election was duly monitored by INEC on 31st May, 2023 at a proper National Convention of APGA.

6. NWC commends the efforts and dedication of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and the Chairman of INEC for striving to enhance our electoral process for a transparent and credible off season elections coming up in Edo and Ondo States respectively. NWC thus urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure that its staff strictly adheres to basic principles of fairness in conducting peaceful and credible elections in the aforementioned states.

7. The NWC also call on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be courageous and resilient to stand by the truth on the leadership tussle in APGA and ultimately correct the unpopular and baseless recognition of Edozie Njoku whose Convention was never monitored by INEC at any point from 2019 till date. More so, the NWC wonders upon which pedestal INEC purported to base its decision in recognizing Chief Edozie Njoku on the 9th of July, 2024 when apparently the purported tenure between May 2019 to May, 2023 had long elapsed.

8. NWC further urge the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) not to succumb to the antics and

cheap blackmail of Edozie Njoku to recognize strangers as APGA IPAC representatives across the 36 States including FCT. NWC strongly affirmed that the officers of APGA elected across the various wards, Local Governments and States are still validly in office and cannot be replaced on the whims and caprices of charlatans laying claim to APGA Leadership.

9. NWC calls on IPAC to appraise the various Court Judgments on APGA leadership to take an

informed decision on any issue concerning APGA. NWC restates that no Court anywhere in Nigeria ever declared Chief Edozie Njoku as National Chairman of APGA to warrant his recognition by INEC.

10. NWC commends the developmental strides by the Governor of Anambra State and National

leader of APGA, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR for keeping to the manifesto of the party in delivering his campaign promises to the people of Anambra particularly his promise to conduct a transparent and credible local Government Elections in the State.

11. NWC notes with admiration and commendation the various awards and laurels already

garnered by the Governor of Anambra State and National Leader of APGA, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR particularly his recent conferment as the Champion Newspaper Best Governor on Infrastructure and Rural Development. NWC further urge the Governor of Anambra State to continue to show courage and leadership in all facets of governance in Anambra State. Unanimously members of NWC thanked the APGA National leader generally for the tremendous achievements he has recorded so far in less than three years in office.

12. NWC commends the Supreme Court for its landmark judgment that aims to strengthen the

Local Government administration in Nigeria and which further seeks to engender the autonomy of Local Governments across the country in line with the dictates of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. NWC observed that the apex court has once again lived up to the expectation of the Judiciary being the last hope of the common man.

13. NWC congratulates the just sworn-in Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon Justice Kudirat

Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, CFR on her historic ascension of office as the 2nd ever female Chief Justice of Nigeria. NWC notes that her ascension of office could not have come at a better time given the myriads of challenges facing the nation’s judiciary. NWC therefore urges her to use her wealth of experience, integrity and proven track records to strengthen the nation’s justice delivery system as well as bring about the needed reforms in the justice sector.

14. Members of the NWC also commended the efforts so far by the President of the Federal

Republic of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR in ameliorating the sufferings of the masses in Nigeria. NWC therefore urge the President to do more for the people by ensuring prompt implementation of the palliative measures already put in place by the Federal Government and intensify efforts that will bring about the reduction of the cost of food items across the Country.

15. The members of the NWC unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the National

leadership of the party ably led by Barr Sly Ezeokenwa and pledged their total support and loyalty to the Party under his leadership.

16. The NWC of the party resolves not to go into any merger, collaboration or alliance with any

other political party at this time.

Long Live All Progressives Grand Alliance

Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria
