Winners Emerged at APGA House of Reps Primary Rerun in Lagos and Ondo States

WINNERS EMERGED AT APGA HOUSE OF REPS PRIMARY RERUN IN LAGOS AND ONDO STATES

By Wole Adedoyin

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) marked a significant milestone on Tuesday, the 9th of January 2024, as winners emerged from the rerun of primary elections held in two Federal Constituencies in the Southwest region of Nigeria.

The rerun took place in the Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency of Ondo State and Surulere Federal Constituency 1 of Lagos State, as revealed in an official statement issued by the National Vice Chairman (Southwest) of APGA, Alh. Suraj Owolabi.

In tandem with these reruns, a similar exercise unfolded in Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal constituency in Taraba State and Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski Federal constituency of Kebbi State. The rerun primary elections ran concurrently on the specified date in these mentioned Federal Constituencies, reflecting APGA's commitment to fostering democratic processes.

Mrs. Adesuyi Alaba Victoria emerged as the triumphant candidate for the Akoko Northeast/Northwest Federal Constituency of Ondo State, while Comrade Ololade Johnson clinched victory in the Surulere Federal Constituency 1 of Lagos State. The integrity of these elections was upheld through meticulous monitoring by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in both states.

It is essential to note that this rerun primary was not conducted in anticipation of an upcoming election season but was necessitated by court judgments that nullified previous election results in these constituencies. APGA, in adhering to the rule of law, has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring that the democratic process remains robust and just.

As the political landscape takes shape, APGA urged the electorate to throw their support behind these winning candidates. Mrs. Adesuyi Alaba Victoria and Comrade Ololade Johnson have proven themselves as dedicated public servants, ready to advocate for the welfare and concerns of the constituents they aim to represent.

This call to action resonates with APGA's broader vision – encouraging voters to elect APGA candidates into the National Assembly. APGA firmly believed that increasing its representation in the green chamber will empower the party to effect positive change and contribute to enhancing the legislative narrative in the National Assembly.

Finally, APGA expressed its gratitude to the APGA Members in the two states for their participation in the rerun primary elections. According to the release, “the success of these exercises reinforces APGA's unwavering commitment to transparent, fair, and democratic electoral processes.”
