MINUTES OF THE SEVENTH STATE
WORKING COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE OSUN STATE CHAPTER OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES
GRAND ALLIANCE (APGA)
Held on 13th July 2024 at the Party Secretariat, Gbodofon, Osogbo, Osun State
1. The Seventh State Working Committee meeting of the Osun State Chapter of APGA was convened as scheduled at the Party Secretariat in Gbodofon, Aregbe Area, Osogbo, Osun State. Despite attempts to disrupt the proceedings, with evidence in possession of the Chairman, the meeting proceeded successfully. The full minutes will be provided later.
2. The Chairman announced a significant donation of Sixty Thousand Naira (₦60,000) to the party's operational fund. This contribution follows a previous donation of an equivalent amount made after the First APGA Chairmen's meeting on 21st September 2023. The earlier funds were utilized for EXCO transport fares and other party activities. The new donation is designated exclusively for party operations.
3. The Chairman unveiled three newly designed party banners. One banner will be prominently displayed at the front of the party secretariat, while the remaining two will be used during State Working Committee Meetings, Congresses, campaigns, and rallies to enhance the party’s visibility.
4. Concerning the ongoing Digital Membership Registration, the Chairman reported that 150 membership registration forms were printed for individuals who face challenges registering online. These forms were provided by the incumbent National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Alh. Suraj Owolabi. Fifty forms have been distributed to members for further recruitment efforts.
5. The Chairman provided an update on the Second Edition of the Council of APGA Chairmen’s Meeting held on June 26th, 2024, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja. Key discussions included the need for party support and sponsorship, increased social media visibility, mobilization for digital membership registration, and promotion of the party’s ideology through the achievements of the national leader, His Excellency, Prof. Charles Soludo, Governor of Anambra State. Additionally, the National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, appointed members to various national committees, including Finance, Media/Publicity, Digital Membership Registration, and APGA Foundation Committees.
6. The meeting introduced the newly appointed Osun APGA Publicity Secretary. Following the National Chairman’s directive for all state chairmen to appoint active Publicity Secretaries, Prince Oluwabusuyi Oluwabamigbe, a social media influencer, was appointed to fill the long-vacant position in Osun after thorough consultation.
7. In preparation for the upcoming Local Government Election, the House proposed forming a committee to draft a timetable for the party’s primaries. This timetable will be submitted to the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC). Three members expressed interest in running for Councillorship positions, while two, including the Chairman, showed interest in the Chairmanship seat.
8. To enhance support and sponsorship, the Chairman introduced the APGA OSUN SUPPORT FUND. This fund will collect donations, contributions, and subscriptions to finance party activities and assist members in need. The Chairman inaugurated the fund with a personal donation of Five Thousand Naira (₦5,000).
9. The House commended Mrs. Wura Ajao for her representation at the second edition of the quarterly consultative meeting with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). The meeting, organized by Osun INEC, focused on improving the participation of persons with disabilities in the electoral process and effective data capturing on election day. It was held on June 26th, 2024, at the Olusegun Agbaje Media Centre, INEC Osun State Office, Osogbo.
10. Lastly, the Chairman addressed the controversial recognition of Edozie Njoku as the National Chairman of APGA by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The Chairman informed that the National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, has instructed the party's legal team to challenge INEC's decision in court.
