MINUTES OF THE SIXTH STATE EXECUTIVE MEETING OF APGA HELD ON APRIL 20, 2024

1. Opening of the Meeting:

The meeting commenced promptly at 12:00 PM with an opening prayer led by Mr. Awojide Peter. Mr. Olopade Victor moved the motion to start the meeting, which was seconded by Mr. Peter Oluwole.

2. Reading of Previous Minutes:

The Secretary was called upon to read the minutes of the previous meeting. There were no observations, and the minutes were accepted unanimously by the attendees.

3. Update on South West Chairman’s Health:

The Chairman informed the members about an accident involving the South West Chairman and his subsequent injuries. He shared that he had visited the Chairman on behalf of the party and had called him during the meeting for greetings and well-wishes. The members collectively prayed for his swift recovery.

4. Report on Seminar Attendance:

Mr. Victor Olopade provided a detailed report on a recent seminar attended in Osogbo, which focused on the low turnout of women in politics and proposed solutions. It was resolved that the constitution should include provisions for a quota for women to enhance their participation in politics.

5. Recruitment of New Members:

The Chairman discussed strategies for recruiting new members into APGA. Mr. Gbadebo Adekunle shared successful efforts made to attract new members, and the Chairman encouraged everyone to maintain this momentum. Mr. Awojide Peter also detailed his efforts in member recruitment and assured positive results in the near future.

6. Youth Leader’s Irregularity:

The meeting addressed concerns regarding the irregularity of the Youth Leader. The Chairman outlined the efforts made to address this issue and assured that improvements would be made.

7. Progress Report:

The Chairman reviewed the progress made by the current executive committee, acknowledging the stability achieved but also recognizing areas needing improvement. He mentioned that other political parties in Osun had also commended APGA's efforts.

8. Formation of Membership Mobilization Committee:

A Membership Mobilization Committee was established with Mr. Adekunle Gbadebo as Chairman, Mr. Peter Oluwole as Secretary, and members including Mrs. Bukky Ademola, Mr. Ajao Ibrahim, and Mr. Abdulsalam Oludare.

9. Support for Member Identification Cards:

The Chairman proposed issuing identification cards for all members. This proposal was unanimously accepted by the executive members present.

10. IPAC Representation:

The Chairman discussed APGA’s recognition by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC). Mr. Olopade Victor was selected to represent APGA in IPAC. The members discussed strategies for gaining recognition from the ruling party (PDP) and suggested contacting National Leader Pastor Olatunji Popola for guidance.

11. Local Government Elections:

The issue of local government elections was raised and discussed. The meeting concluded with a resolution to ensure all preparations for the elections are in place.

12. Explanation of OSSIEC Activities:

Mr. Olopade Victor explained the ongoing activities related to OSSIEC through IPAC, including the government's desire to assess party affiliations. He assured that APGA has complied with all necessary procedures and expressed optimism about positive outcomes.

13. Commendation and Feedback:

The Chairman commended Mr. Victor for his dedication to APGA and emphasized the importance of membership identification. He highlighted the need to work on implementing effective identification methods.

14. Financial Transparency:

The issue of financial transparency was addressed. The Secretary, Mr. Olatunji, along with Mr. Awojide Peter and Baba Abimbola, provided advice on maintaining transparency and accountability in financial matters.

15. Bio-Data Forms and Electoral Codes:

Members were given bio-data forms and information on the electoral codes for their respective units, wards, local governments, and constituencies.

16. IPAC Maize Distribution:

Mr. Olapade reported on the 3½ bags of maize received from IPAC. Madam Bukky Ademola explained that the maize was sold for ₦48,500, with ₦2,500 used for expenses, leaving ₦46,000 for the party. This amount was distributed among the members present, with ₦7,300 remaining and kept by Mr. Awojide Peter.

17. Establishment of Disciplinary Committee:

A disciplinary committee was established by the Chairman to address any issues within the party. The meeting also reminded members about the visitation of the South West Chairman.

18. Closing Remarks:

The meeting was concluded at 5:00 PM. The Secretary offered the closing prayer.

19. Apologies and Acknowledgements:

Apologies were made for any absences from previous meetings, with a commitment to improvement. The Chairman and other members acknowledged and encouraged each other, particularly regarding the actions of Mr. Olatunji, Mr. Victor Olopade, Mr. Peter Oluwole, and the Secretary.

20. Emergency Meeting Agenda:

The Chairman clarified that this was an emergency meeting and reviewed the agenda, emphasizing the need for timely actions in preparation for the 2025 local government elections. He discussed the role of OSSIEC and the division of labor within the party.

The meeting was adjourned with a collective commitment to address the issues discussed and advance the party’s goals.
