APGA NATIONAL SECRETARY CONDEMNS IMPOSTORS’ ACTIONS, REAFFIRMS PARTY’S UNITY UNDER BARR. SLY EZEOKENWA
The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has faced significant challenges over the years due to the actions of individuals who are more focused on personal gain than the progress of democracy and the development of Nigeria. These disruptive elements, who do not have the country’s best interests at heart, have been a source of setbacks for the party. However, APGA remains resolute in its commitment to fair play, democratic values, and national development.
In a statement issued by Ibrahim Mani, the National Secretary of APGA, he expressed concern over the rise of elites who are attempting to derail the party’s progress for selfish purposes. He decried their attempts to seize key positions within the party without following the due process outlined in APGA’s constitution. "These imposters," Mani said, "are trying to sow discord within our party, but APGA remains united under the legitimate leadership of our National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa."
Mani emphasized that APGA, as a legally registered political party in Nigeria, adheres strictly to constitutional provisions. The party derives its power and legitimacy from the law, and any actions that deviate from this legal framework are null and void. "Those who are causing friction within the party," Mani continued, "are merely opportunists seeking illegitimate recognition. They are not genuine APGA members but political jobbers intent on causing chaos."
According to Mani, the procedures for becoming an elected officer of the party are clearly outlined in the party’s constitution. Any member who aspires to leadership must adhere to these established rules. He expressed dismay that certain individuals, unknown to the party, are attempting to usurp power unlawfully from the legitimately elected officers of APGA, particularly targeting the leadership of Barr. Ezeokenwa.
“These so-called elites,” Mani explained, “are only interested in their own political recognition. They do not care about the development of Nigeria or the progress of APGA. They are enemies of democracy who peddle false claims and resort to underhanded tactics to achieve their selfish goals.”
He warned that any actions taken outside of APGA’s constitutional framework would be rendered ineffective. “APGA will not be swayed by the antics of these impostors,” Mani declared. “The party remains strong, and we are fully behind the leadership of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa.”
In particular, Mani singled out Chief Chekwas Okorie, Edozie Njoku, and their associates, whom he accused of making baseless claims to leadership within the party. He stated confidently that the courts would soon rule in favor of APGA’s legitimate leadership, reaffirming the party’s unity and strength under Barr. Ezeokenwa.
“Once the court passes judgment,” Mani said, “it will be clear to all that Barr. Ezeokenwa and his team are the rightful leaders of APGA. Those claiming otherwise should prepare to face the consequences of their actions.”
Mani also took the opportunity to congratulate the National Leader of APGA, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo (CFR), for the successful conduct of local government elections in the state. He lauded the peaceful nature of the elections and the commitment of the governor to grassroots democracy.
In his concluding remarks, Mani expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court, for its recent decision to grant autonomy to local governments across the country. “This ruling,” he said, “is a major step forward in strengthening our democratic institutions and ensuring that local governments can function independently.”
Mani called on all APGA members and supporters to remain united and vigilant against the efforts of impostors seeking to destabilize the party. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring the progress of Nigeria.
“APGA is a party of the people,” Mani concluded. “We will not allow the selfish ambitions of a few individuals to derail our mission. Under the leadership of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, APGA will continue to thrive and contribute to the development of our great nation.”
