Osun 2026: APGA in Search of Candidate to Unseat Gov. Ademola Adeleke

OSUN 2026: APGA IN SEARCH OF CANDIDATE TO UNSEAT GOV. ADEMOLA ADELEKE

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced its determined search for a credible and visionary candidate to contest the 2026 governorship election and unseat the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.

This was made known in a statement issued by the Osun State Chairman of the party, Wole Adedoyin in Ilesa on Monday.

According to the statement, APGA remains resolute in its mission to bring transformative leadership to Osun State, emphasizing that the state deserves innovative governance and sustainable development. APGA Osun Chairman, Wole Adedoyin reaffirmed that the party is committed to identifying a candidate with the integrity, competence, and vision needed to deliver these goals.

The party highlighted its dissatisfaction with the current administration under Governor Ademola Adeleke, pointing to what it described as "ineffective leadership and missed opportunities" in various sectors of the state's economy. APGA believes that Osun State has vast untapped potential that can only be harnessed through strategic planning and capable leadership.

APGA Osun Chairman, Adedoyin noted that the party’s search for a candidate will be inclusive and transparent, ensuring that the eventual flagbearer represents the aspirations of the people of Osun State. The party intends to engage communities, professional bodies, and youth organizations in selecting a candidate who truly understands the challenges faced by the people and is prepared to tackle them head-on.

“We are not just looking for a candidate; we are looking for a visionary leader who can restore Osun’s glory and make our state a beacon of development in Nigeria,” Adedoyin stated.

The party also announced plans to launch a state-wide consultation process aimed at engaging with various stakeholders to discuss APGA’s vision for Osun State and gather input on the type of leadership the people desire. This process is expected to serve as a foundation for the party’s governorship blueprint, which will be unveiled in the coming months.

Adedoyin emphasized that APGA is committed to upholding democratic values and offering a credible alternative to the status quo. He called on Osun residents who share the party’s vision to join APGA in its mission to create a state characterized by progress, inclusiveness, and good governance.

The party believes that the governorship election presents a unique opportunity for the people of Osun to break away from what it described as “recycled leadership” and embrace a new era of progressive governance. APGA is determined to position itself as the vehicle for that change.

APGA further disclosed its readiness to partner with grassroots organizations, civil society groups, and other progressive forces in the state to build a formidable coalition capable of dislodging the incumbent administration in the next election.

The statement also addressed issues of voter apathy and political cynicism, urging Osun citizens to remain hopeful and participate actively in the political process. “The power to change our state lies in the hands of the people, and APGA is here to channel that power towards meaningful transformation,” Adedoyin said.

In line with its preparations, APGA has resolved to strengthen its internal structure, enhance its membership drive, and mobilize resources to support its governorship campaign. The party reiterated its confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free and fair elections in 2026.

The party leadership also called on the media, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to play their roles in ensuring that the forthcoming elections reflect the will of the people.

APGA Osun Chairman, Adedoyin concluded the press release by urging Osun State residents to place their trust in APGA, promising that the party’s candidate will lead with integrity, transparency, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of all citizens.

“The future of Osun State is in our hands. Together, we can rewrite the narrative of our beloved state and create a better tomorrow for generations to come,” Adedoyin concluded.

APGA NATIONAL SECRETARY CONGRATULATES BIANCA OJUKWU, LAUDS GOV. CHARLES SOLUDO'S PROGRESSIVE LEADERSHIP STYLE

By Wole Adedoyin

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Ibrahim Mani, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, a distinguished member of APGA’s Board of Trustees, on her recent appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Mrs. Ojukwu’s appointment reflects her outstanding contributions to Nigeria and her deep commitment to advancing the nation's global interests.

In his congratulatory message, Mr. Mani described Mrs. Ojukwu’s appointment as a well-deserved recognition of her wealth of experience, dedication, and capability to bring meaningful impact to Nigeria’s foreign relations.

"This appointment is akin to putting a round peg in a round hole," said Mr. Mani, emphasizing that her experience will bring valuable insights to Nigeria's economic and diplomatic initiatives on the global stage.

Mr. Mani also commended President Ahmed Tinubu, CFR, for the inclusive and balanced nature of his administration's appointments. According to Mr. Mani, the President’s approach of selecting candidates based on merit and capability, regardless of political differences, reflects a commitment to building a united Nigeria. "This inclusive approach is a testimony to Mr. President’s nationalist vision and his resolve to foster positive political change," he stated.

Furthermore, Mr. Mani lauded Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State for his exemplary leadership and dedication to APGA’s ideology of people-centered governance.

The governor’s developmental strides in Anambra State have earned him national recognition as Nigeria’s best-performing governor. His commitment to using standardized methods to uplift the state’s infrastructure and services stands as a model of effective governance.

Mr. Mani also acknowledged the challenges posed by certain political elements attempting to disrupt Anambra’s progress.

However, he expressed confidence in Governor Soludo’s resilience and commitment to transformative change. "Despite distractions, His Excellency Prof. Soludo remains focused on his mission to bring sustainable development to Anambra and to serve the downtrodden," Mani stated.

Highlighting the unity within APGA, Mr. Mani praised the party’s National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, for his tireless efforts to strengthen APGA and advance its values across Nigeria. He encouraged party members and supporters to rally behind the leadership, urging those attempting to undermine APGA’s progress to redirect their energy toward building a better future for Nigeria.

The National Secretary also appealed to individuals undermining APGA's unity to reconsider their actions, reminding them of the party’s mission to provide an inclusive platform for all Nigerians. "Those seeking to subvert APGA’s progress should rather join us in building a stronger party to better serve the nation," Mani advised.

Mr. Mani stressed the importance of collaboration and dedication within the APGA family to fulfill its mandate.

He reiterated that APGA remains committed to championing progressive policies and supporting leaders who embody the party’s ideals of equity, justice, and development for all Nigerians.

APGA National Secretary Hopeful of Supreme Court Judgement in Favor of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, NWC

APGA NATIONAL SECRETARY HOPEFUL OF SUPREME COURT JUDGEMENT IN FAVOR OF BARR SLY EZEOKENWA, NWC

By Wole Adedoyin

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Ibrahim Mani, has expressed optimism over the anticipated Supreme Court judgment on the APGA leadership dispute.

He recounted the proceedings held on November 4, 2024, in which the case brought by the APGA National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, against Chief Ndozie Njoku and his faction was thoroughly reviewed by a five-member panel of justices.

Mani affirmed his confidence that the ruling will favor Ezeokenwa and his National Working Committee (NWC), thereby upholding the integrity of the APGA leadership.

Mr. Mani commended the judiciary, particularly the Supreme Court, for its commitment to handling the case with due diligence. According to Mani, the court has provided a vital platform for resolving the internal dispute in APGA and ensuring that justice is served. He acknowledged the Supreme Court's dedication to upholding the rule of law and maintaining its status as the last resort for the masses in the country.

Reflecting on the courtroom atmosphere, Mani noted that Chief Ndozie Njoku and his team appeared visibly unsettled throughout the proceedings. He observed that Njoku’s legal counsel attempted various strategies that seemed intended to delay the court process. This approach, Mani stated, caused visible discomfort among Njoku's supporters, some of whom were seen quietly leaving the courtroom as the proceedings unfolded.

The National Secretary emphasized the patience and respect demonstrated by Ezeokenwa’s supporters during the proceedings. According to Mani, those aligned with the legitimate leadership of APGA remained calm and respectful, abiding by the principles of fair hearing and judicial decorum. He shared that they continuously affirmed their respect for the court with the refrain, “As the court pleases.”

Mr. Mani pointed out that Njoku’s faction’s attempts to challenge the appeal were ultimately unsuccessful, as the court proceedings strongly favored APGA’s officially recognized leadership under Ezeokenwa. He remarked that this moment signified a setback for those who attempted to claim the party's leadership under questionable circumstances.

Central to the dispute is the legitimacy of Chief Njoku’s alleged convention, which purportedly installed him as the APGA National Chairman. Mani argued that there is no record of such a convention or of Njoku’s legitimate membership in APGA. He described Njoku as an imposter whose actions are detrimental to the party’s stability and future.

As far as the membership records are concerned, Mr. Mani asserted that Njoku has never been listed as a member of APGA nationwide. His claim to the APGA chairmanship, Mani stated, lacks legal standing and authenticity, and he predicted that Njoku's political ambitions would inevitably collapse under the weight of these issues.

Looking forward, Mr. Mani reassured APGA members and supporters that Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa’s leadership remains steadfast in its commitment to restoring the party’s reputation. He noted that the current leadership has been working diligently to reinforce the principles and values that have historically defined APGA and have earned it respect nationwide.

In conclusion, Mr. Mani expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will soon deliver a judgment that will permanently settle the leadership dispute in favor of Ezeokenwa. He urged party members to remain united and resilient in anticipation of a favorable verdict, assuring them that the party is well-prepared to rebuild its image and continue its mission for the people of Nigeria under authentic leadership.
