OSUN LG POLL: APGA SUBMITS PARTY AGENT NAMES, URGES OSSIEC TO CONDUCT FREE AND FAIR ELECTION

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), under the leadership of its Chairman, Mr. Wole Adedoyin, has announced the successful submission of the names of its party agents ahead of the February 22nd 2025 local government elections in the state. The party also called on the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to ensure the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner.

This development was disclosed in a press statement released by Mr. Adedoyin in Ilesa on Sunday. The Chairman emphasized APGA’s commitment to strengthening democracy at the grassroots level and its readiness to participate actively in the upcoming elections.

The party’s list of agents, covering both councillorship and chairmanship positions, was submitted to OSSIEC in a letter dated December 4, 2024. According to Mr. Adedoyin, the submission is in full compliance with the electoral commission's guidelines and timelines.

Mr. Adedoyin expressed his optimism about the party’s performance in the elections, noting that APGA’s candidates are well-prepared to deliver quality leadership and development to their respective local governments. “Our candidates are focused on grassroots development and inclusivity, and we are confident they will earn the trust of the people,” he stated.

APGA also used the opportunity to remind OSSIEC of its constitutional duty to conduct an election that upholds the tenets of democracy. The party urged the electoral body to remain neutral, transparent, and accountable in its operations, emphasizing that credible elections are essential for fostering public confidence in the democratic process.

Furthermore, the party called on other political stakeholders to play their roles responsibly and avoid actions that could disrupt the electoral process. Mr. Adedoyin stressed that peace and cooperation among political actors would ensure a smooth and credible election.

APGA extended its appreciation to its members and supporters for their unwavering dedication and contributions towards the party’s success. “Your support has been instrumental in our journey, and we urge you to remain steadfast as we work together for victory in the local government polls,” the statement read.

The party also commended OSSIEC for its efforts in preparing for the elections and expressed hope that the commission would address any concerns raised by political parties to ensure a smooth process.

As the election date approaches, APGA reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of democracy, good governance, and accountability. The party reiterated its pledge to serve as a vehicle for grassroots transformation, urging voters to support its candidates for a better Osun State.

APGA’s leadership remains confident that the party will emerge stronger and more united from the elections, ready to deliver meaningful change to the people of Osun State.
