Why APGA is the only Authentic Progressive Party in Nigeria

WHY APGA IS THE ONLY AUTHENTIC PROGRESSIVE PARTY IN NIGERIA

By Wole Adedoyin – APGA Osun Chairman

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has again reiterated its position as the only authentic progressive political party in Nigeria. With a strong ideological foundation, a credible leadership structure, and a developmental governance model in Anambra State, APGA has remained committed to the true principles of progressivism, which include equity, social justice, grassroots development, and inclusive governance. The party maintains that, unlike others who only pay lip service to progressivism, APGA walks the talk.

The party’s National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has consistently protected and promoted the general interest of the party since assuming office. His leadership style, which is anchored on transparency, inclusiveness, and innovation, has repositioned APGA as a party of the people. He has defended the core values of APGA and worked tirelessly to ensure that the party remains a beacon of hope to Nigerians seeking credible alternatives to the dominant political hegemony.

Under Barr. Ezeokenwa’s watch, APGA has experienced improved internal cohesion and renewed commitment from its members across the country. The party has also expanded its reach beyond the South-East, engaging more Nigerians and spreading its message of people-oriented governance. Ezeokenwa has introduced several administrative and structural reforms that have modernized party operations and inspired trust in its leadership.

The achievements of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo in Anambra State serve as living testimony of what APGA stands for. Since taking over the mantle of leadership, Governor Soludo has pursued a people-driven agenda anchored on economic transformation, infrastructure renewal, education reform, and environmental sustainability. These tangible achievements confirm that APGA delivers where it governs.

One of the first remarkable achievements of Governor Soludo was the Anambra Urban Regeneration Project, which has significantly transformed Awka and other urban centres in the state. The project has improved road networks, enhanced urban aesthetics, and reduced traffic congestion. This development effort clearly aligns with APGA’s progressive ideology of modernizing infrastructure for economic prosperity.

In the area of education, Governor Soludo has employed over 5,000 teachers across the state to tackle the human resource gap in schools. This massive recruitment drive is one of the boldest interventions in the state’s education sector in recent history. Soludo has also implemented reforms to improve teaching quality, curriculum relevance, and digital literacy among students.

On health, Soludo has embarked on the rehabilitation and equipping of general hospitals and primary health centres across the 21 local government areas. This move is aimed at ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare for all Anambra citizens. The administration has also introduced a health insurance scheme to widen the coverage and reduce out-of-pocket expenditure for poor families.

Environmental sustainability has not been left out. Governor Soludo’s “Clean, Green, and Sustainable Anambra” campaign has taken root, with regular desilting of drainages, tree planting, and waste management reforms. The campaign is already yielding results as flood risks have been minimized, and the state’s sanitation ranking has improved significantly.

In terms of security, the Soludo-led APGA government has forged strong alliances with security agencies and local vigilante groups to combat criminal elements. These efforts have significantly reduced violent crimes, kidnapping, and cultism in many parts of the state. The administration’s investments in technology-driven security have also strengthened intelligence gathering and response time.

Economically, Soludo has initiated programs that support micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises (MSMEs), agricultural cooperatives, and youth entrepreneurship. The “One Youth, Two Skills” initiative aims to equip thousands of young people with technical and vocational skills needed for self-employment, which is crucial in a country battling youth unemployment.

These achievements stress the progressive governance model of APGA. It is not just a party that seeks power; it is a party that empowers people. Its record in Anambra State is a clear demonstration of its capacity to provide purposeful leadership and foster real development. It shows that APGA has the solutions to Nigeria’s myriad challenges, if given the chance.

Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, as National Chairman, deserves commendation for defending the sanctity of the party's structures and remaining firm in upholding internal democracy. Under his watch, APGA has remained focused, united, and visionary. He has ensured that the party is not hijacked by self-serving politicians, thereby preserving its ideological purity.

Ezeokenwa’s emphasis on capacity building, digital transformation, and grassroots mobilization has improved party engagement at all levels. He has also shown admirable diplomatic skills in interfacing with other political stakeholders and electoral institutions, always putting the interest of the party and its members first.

At a time when most political parties are torn apart by factionalism, opportunism, and lack of ideology, APGA remains an oasis of order, vision, and people-centeredness. The party has remained consistent in its philosophy of being its brother’s and sister’s keeper—an ideology deeply rooted in African communal values and social justice.

Moreover, APGA’s ideology of inclusive politics has given voice to underrepresented groups, especially women and youth. The party continues to advocate for gender parity and has reserved leadership positions for young people, which makes it the most youth-friendly party in the country today.

APGA’s history and legacy also affirm its commitment to true progressivism. Founded on the ideals of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the party was established to offer Nigerians a genuine alternative rooted in integrity, justice, and people-first leadership. These ideals still guide the party’s decisions and actions today.

Nigerians are tired of recycled politicians and broken promises. What they need is a party that is tested, trusted, and transformative. APGA fits this description perfectly. It is the only party in Nigeria with a visible and verifiable record of progressive governance and development impact.

The party has also proven that it is not driven by ethnic or regional agenda but by national interest. This is evident in its pan-Nigerian outreach, policy initiatives, and developmental strides. It is ready to extend its success in Anambra to other states and regions across Nigeria.

As the 2027 general elections approach, Nigerians must begin to look beyond the usual political suspects and embrace a party with a credible vision and proven leadership. APGA represents the best hope for a new Nigeria—one built on equity, competence, and collective prosperity.

In conclusion, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) remains the only authentic progressive party in Nigeria today. Its track record in Anambra State, visionary leadership under Governor Charles Soludo, and the principled stewardship of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa are testimonies to this truth. The party stands ready to offer Nigeria the leadership it so desperately needs. The time has come for Nigerians to choose progress, and APGA is that progressive choice.
