Third Minutes of APGA Osun EXCO Meeting held on January 7, 2024

 

MINUTES OF THE THIRD STATE EXECUTIVE MEETING OF APGA HELD ON JANUARY 7, 2024

 


1.      The third state executive meeting of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) convened on January 7, 2024, at the NUJ Press Center, Osogbo, situated beside Technical College Osogbo. A total of seven executive members attended the meeting, with one member sending their apologies.

 

2.      The meeting commenced at 2:37 PM with an opening prayer led by the State Secretary. The Chairman initiated the proceedings by outlining the meeting's agenda and reaffirming the party's rules and regulations.

 

3.      The Chairman expressed his commendation for the efforts and achievements of all state executive members and party members over the past year. He encouraged everyone to continue their hard work and dedication for the coming year.

 

4.      The Chairman informed the assembly about an upcoming visitation from the South-West Chairman. He emphasized the importance of preparing adequately for this visit to ensure its success.

 

5.      The Chairman addressed a significant issue regarding the role of the Deputy Chairman. He explained that the current Deputy Chairman had not attended any meetings or sent apologies since the inauguration of the current executive team.

 

6.      Due to the Deputy Chairman's lack of participation, the Chairman decided to temporarily appoint Mr. Victor Olopade to the role of Acting Deputy Chairman. This decision aimed to ensure that the position was filled by a dedicated and active party member.

 

7.      The Chairman also announced that Mr. Wole Oyerinde would replace Mr. Victor Olopade as the State Vice Chairman (III). This reorganization was part of a broader strategy to improve the party's functionality.

 

8.      Mr. Adekunle Gbadebo voiced concerns regarding the Chairman's decision-making process. However, this issue was addressed and resolved amicably through discussion among the members.

 

9.      The assembly unanimously endorsed Mr. Victor Olopade's appointment as Acting Deputy Chairman. The consensus reflected the group's support for the temporary adjustment.

 

10.  The Chairman praised the efforts of the National Chairman, acknowledging the leadership transition at the national level. He shared positive feedback received from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which commended the state's performance during the recent National Congress.

 

11.  The Chairman highlighted the importance of maintaining visibility for APGA through social media, emphasizing the need for continuous awareness efforts to keep the party's presence strong in Osun.

12.  He also underscored the significance of documenting party activities by taking group pictures after each meeting. This practice helps in reviewing and tracking the party's progress and engagement.

 

13.  A substantial portion of the meeting focused on preparing for the upcoming local government elections. The Chairman encouraged all members to be fully prepared and proactive in their roles.

 

14.  The Chairman proposed sending a letter to the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) and the PDP, expressing APGA's support and willingness to collaborate with them.

 

15.  Additionally, the Chairman suggested that preparations for the 2026 governorship election should begin immediately. This early preparation was deemed crucial for the party's future success.

 

16.  The Chairman also discussed the need for the inauguration of each Local Government, including wards and units. This initiative was aimed at strengthening the party's organizational structure at all levels.

 

17.  Mr. Olopade urged all members to remain honest and trustworthy. He also offered prayers for the wellbeing of the party and its members, reinforcing the spirit of unity and commitment.

 

18.  The meeting concluded at 4:35 PM. Mr. Awojide Peter was called upon to deliver the closing prayer, marking the end of the session.

 

19.  The members departed with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to advancing the party's objectives and preparing for future challenges.

 

20.  The minutes of the meeting were recorded and will be disseminated to ensure all members are informed of the discussions and decisions made during this session.
